Part of this trip is fundraising. It's the part we all don't like...but it's also the part where we are seeing God show up and feeling humbled and blessed by our friends and family showing their support through donations.
I have $1700 to go in fundraising and would love your support!
Our next fundraising mark is February 16, but ultimately we just need everything in before we leave in March! Thanks for considering supporting our church's relationship in Swazi through this trip.

Why We're Going
For the last three years, New Life Downtown has been partnering with Children's Hopechest to provide financial and relational support to a community in Swaziland. This yearI'll be co-leading a group of 11 from NLD who will be travelling to Mankayane at the end of March to further the relationship that NLD has with the community.
When I was working on Indian Reservations a few years ago, a community elder made a statement to me that has stuck with me and formed my view of church partnerships and mission work. He said,
"The first time you come, we will be hospitable, the second time you come we can have a conversation, and the third time you come we will begin building a relationship."
New Life Downtown believes that part of the development of our relationship with this community in Swaziland is for us to continue to show up. To show through our actions that we are interested in true relationship building, where we mutually learn from each other.
I'm excited to be co-leading the third trip our church has taken to visit our partner in Swazi, and I'm hopeful that the relationship building will begin to thrive!

Where We are Going
On March 20, 2015 I will be co-leading a team from our church, New Life Downtown, to visit a community in Swaziland. We've been partnering with this community through Children's Hopechest for 3 years.
Our lead pastor describes our partnership:
“The Mankayane community is being supported solely by New Life Downtown. Our philosophy with regard to global ministries at New Life Church as a whole is that rather than trying to do a little bit for lots of different ministries, we want to build long-term, sustainable relationships with a few key partners.
For us at New Life Downtown, this partnership in Swaziland is the main thing we do as far as missions. But more importantly, we are all these children in Mankayane have. We are the embodiment of God's grace and provision for them. They count on our partnership for their community to survive, thrive and succeed.” - Glenn Packiam
